Son of Sardaar 2 Box Office Collection Report: Ajay Devgn’s Sequel Turns Out To Be A Disaster Compared To Part 1
Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited comedy entertainer Son of Sardaar 2 finally hit theatres after a one-week delay (due to Saiyaara’s strong run). Made on a massive budget of ₹150 crore, the sequel carried huge expectations, but the film has turned out to be a big disappointment at the box office.
Box Office Journey So Far
The film opened on a dull note and failed to show any major growth over the weekend.
Day 1 (Friday): ₹7.25 crore
Day 2 (Saturday): ₹8.25 crore
Day 3 (Sunday): ₹9.25 crore
Opening Weekend Total: ₹24.75 crore net
After a below-par weekend, the film dropped heavily on weekdays and ended its first week at just ₹33 crore net.
In the second week, the downfall continued:
Day 10 (2nd Sunday): ₹3.75 crore
Day 11 (2nd Monday): ₹1 crore
By Day 17 (August 17): The film collected ₹46.02 crore net, with ₹52.59 crore gross India and ₹62.84 crore worldwide.

Budget vs Recovery
With a production cost of ₹150 crore, the film has managed to recover barely 30% of its investment from theatrical revenue. Trade sources have already marked the film as a flop/disaster.
Clash & Competition
Even though the release was postponed to avoid a direct clash with Saiyaara, the move did not benefit much. Saiyaara continued to dominate the multiplex audience, while Mahavatar Narsimha pulled crowds in mass belts. This left Son of Sardaar 2 struggling for screens and footfalls.
Son of Sardaar (2012) vs Son of Sardaar 2 (2025)
The first Son of Sardaar (2012) was released during Diwali alongside Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Despite the clash, it collected ₹105 crore net in India and around ₹150 crore worldwide on a much smaller budget of ₹50 crore, making it a Hit/Semi-Hit depending on trade sources.
On the other hand, Son of Sardaar 2 has failed miserably, unable to cross even half of its cost, proving to be one of the weakest sequels in recent years.
Box Office Comparison

Final Verdict
Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2 has failed to recreate the charm of the original. Despite high buzz, nostalgia, and family comedy elements, the film could not find takers at the ticket window. With just ₹46 crore net against a ₹150 crore
budget, the film is now counted among 2025’s biggest box office flops.
